Why, My soul, are you downcast? Put your hope in the Lord. Psalm 42:5

Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise Him, my savior and my God. Psalm 42:5

Are the new year blues starting to set in for you? Perhaps you’re dragging your feet to go back to that toxic workplace after a long break, or you’re still processing disappointments and unfinished tasks from the year before.

While a new year doesn’t always make us feel like we’re getting a fresh start in life, the Psalmist encourages us to put our hopes in the God who makes all things new. He is the One who leads us by still waters, directs us with His love by day, and puts His song in our hearts at night (Psalm 42:8).

REFLECT:

What’s weighing you down in this season? Commit them to the Lord and ask Him to give you a fresh perspective for the year ahead.
