The Subtle Things We Do That We Disguise as “Godly”

Title: The Subtle Things We Do that We Disguise as “Godly”

Description: We’ve all been there. The time (or times) we’ve thought or said something to rationalise or “spiritualise” our decisions/actions.

“I’m concerned about ____”
“I need time to pray about it.”
“God is calling me to something else.”

While there’s nothing intrinsically wrong with those phrases, deep down we know there’s something else.

Maybe we just don’t want to do something anymore, or something bothers us, but we also don’t want to offend or disappoint anyone. So we resort to our Christian vocabulary and bring God into the picture so people won’t (or can’t) question our motives.

How often do we use these phrases (unwittingly or not) to justify behaviours that don’t actually glorify God?
