This Month’s Theme:
New Beginnings in Christ

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

Galatians 2:20

woman and man are receiving the "light" and "dove" as a new beginning of life in Christ

Artist’s Reflection

I have been struggling these last two years.

There’s nothing significantly wrong with my life, yet I’ve been feeling like something is missing. All the successes and enjoyment I have had in both my career and my life have only brought me brief, momentary joys.

There’s still an empty void I feel at the end of the day.

I know the concept of dying to self, and the concept of Christ living in us, and being born again. But these felt like familiar words repeated to me. I’ve asked God several times what He really wanted in my life, but this time, I really wanted to know. And God showed me that all these things were meaningless because I’ve been living for myself, when I’m meant to live for God.

When we give our lives to God, we die to ourselves and His light dwells in us. We receive the Light and it overcomes our darkness. He is the eternal light, and He died and showed His love for us so that we may live a true life.

Our life is not ours anymore, but Christ now lives in us.

We all love the idea of fresh starts, clean slates, and second chances.

We long to put aside our past, our misdeeds, or our misactions. So, in our own flesh, we try to create new futures and new identities, only to fall and flail.

How refreshing it is then to know that there’s Someone who is able to give us the new beginnings we long for. His name is Jesus–and the moment we accept Him as our Lord and Saviour, we’re made a new creation.

Our old lives, the ones we so desperately want to shake off, are buried with Jesus through baptism into death, and just as He was raised from the dead, so are we raised into a new life in Him (Romans 6:4). And what’s more, He now lives in us and gives us the power to set our lives in the right direction (2 Peter 1:3).

How do you feel knowing you have a new life in Christ? How does knowing Jesus died for you spur you to live a life that glorifies Him?
