What You Won't See in Our Wedding Photos

It’s day four of our 10-day honeymoon, and I’m sitting by a little gas fire, alone. My husband and I have been looking forward to our honeymoon for weeks. But this trip is not quite what I hoped it would be.

Why We Saved Our First Kiss for the Wedding

On New Year’s Day this year, great anticipation gripped my heart as I walked down the aisle. At the altar stood my soon-to-be husband, Kaizer. We had finally arrived at our long-awaited moment—our first kiss.

What I Learned from Marrying Someone of a Different Faith

Married—But I'm Still Lonely

Even though my husband was literally just a few feet away on the couch (clear proof that I wasn’t alone), it made little difference at that moment. 30+, Single, and Trying Not to Settle

/
Online dating in one’s 30s is not for the faint-hearted. Repeating answers to the same few questions for months on end, labouring to shape an organic conversation out of a vacuum, doing my best not to glance at my watch during tedious first dates . . . required a kind of endurance I hadn’t anticipated.

When I Argued with My Husband About Money

/
In February, my husband had a seizure due to stress. He had not been coping well with all the changes at work and ended up leaving his job in March. Since then, he has been searching for a job, but with the pandemic, the job market has been bleak. And so, I thought we would need to be more prudent with our expenses while we live on my income. But he was not willing to compromise on a significant expense—to let go of the helper who had joined us for just a couple of months. It frustrated me that he refused to listen to my explanation and proposals.
