When God Allowed My Deepest Fears to Happen
Courage, dear child, was God’s silent whisper to me. I didn’t understand it then, but I held onto His promise that He is with me. Little did I know that my greatest fear was about to happen.

“Is he worth wearing a skirt for?”
That’s the question a good friend left with me after I shared my doubts about the guy I was dating.
Sacrificial love is hard, even when it is directed towards someone we truly love.
But loving someone we don’t love—someone who makes our life miserable and difficult, well, that feels almost impossible at times!
We live in a culture that teaches us to put ourselves first and do whatever it takes to get into our ideal course or dream job. The message is clear—we need to stand out, to constantly evolve because if we don’t, we will be left behind.
If you’re still thinking about doing something new for this year, I’d really like to suggest a CAR. And I don’t mean a physical one (unless we need one).
CAR—Competency, Autonomy and Relationship—is a learning principle that can help us flourish and foster positive mental health.
Sharing our faith often feels scary. Whilst many of us would love to be the kind of Christian who introduces other people to Jesus, we can sometimes get stuck in a vicious cycle.
A new year often brings with it a renewed focus (and maybe even resolutions) for how we want to live differently this year.
But how much of your thinking about the new year is related to your work?
After doing an ultrasound, the doctor told me that I had Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD). I had to undergo a major lifestyle change. But even as I exercised more, cut back on fried foods, tried to get enough sleep, the hardest part was changing the way I handled stress.
Whenever I don’t know which option is better, I know I can seek answers from the Bible and consult trusted elders and friends in church. But when it comes to the latter—committing to make the “better” choice, it becomes a matter of will: would I be willing to make the “better” choice?
YMI (which stands for Why Am I?), is a platform for Christian young people all over the world to ask questions about life and discover their true purpose. We are a community with different talents but the same desire to make sense of God’s life-changing word in our everyday lives.
YMI is a part of Our Daily Bread Ministries.
